I didn’t mean to take a month off here, but let’s just say I’ve been easing into the new year! I felt after the holiday break, that I really needed to take it easy, as I have been filling up my evenings and weekends for the past 6 months with additional work, art and craft, and I know I need some time to “fill the cup” and get inspired for new work. That is not to say I haven’t been doing anything… I have been working on a new string quilt in neons, and after all the order and symmetry I needed a little improvisational piecing!
I also did something purely for fun… I made homemade molded chocolates! I read books, watched youtube videos, ordered a few supplies online, and just decided to go for it! I made dark chocolates filled a variety of fillings; spicy chipotle ganache with smoked sea salt, candied ginger with lemon zest, toasted pistachios with dried cranberries, almond butter, and dried cherries. It was really fun, and they turned out amazing! I love when you try something, and you know from the first time you do it, this is something you will do again! I have been researching more about the whole chocolate making world, and dreaming up flavor combinations and inspirations. I will be making another batch to share for valentines day!
And last but not least, I took a quick 3-day trip to Los Angeles, and enjoyed warm temperatures, golden light, lots of smog and haze, and fun and inspiration as well! Short getaways are the best!
